Creative Controls - Depth of Field
This is a photograph of a ceramic figurine of a dog. I captured this photo in a small shop in downtown Portland, Oregon. To take this photo, I set my camera to the macro setting and made it focus on the closest figurine. The macro setting causes the other figurines and other object to become blurred. This shallow depth of field makes the photo more dynamic and focused on the dog figurine.
This is a photograph of a pipe valve. I captured this photo at a reservoir in Portland, Oregon. To take this photo, I set my camera to the macro setting and made it focus on the valve. The macro setting causes the rest of the pipe and ground to become blurred. This shallow depth of field makes the photo more dynamic and focused on the valve.
This is a photograph of a purple flower. I captured this photo in Washington Park in Portland, Oregon. To take this photo, I set my camera to the macro setting and made it focus on the flowers. The macro setting causes one are of the flowers to stay in focus and the other sections of flowers to become blurred. This shallow depth of field makes the photo more dynamic and focused on specific flowers.

Creative Controls - Using Motion
Effective Camera Shake - This is a photograph of a rosebush. To capture this marvelous photo I slowed the shutter speed and purposely shook the camera.
Freeze Action - This is a photograph of pigeons flying away. To capture this wonderful photo I used the "Sports Scene" on my camera to quicken the shutter speed.
Panning - This is a photograph of a biker. I captured this great photo by following the biker with my camera as I took the photo.
